The fundamental reasons this classification exists are to provide customer service and technical support to the Mapping Division of the County Appraisal Department. Classification incumbents serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking information concerning tax mapping and perform entry level to moderately complex technical duties in tax mapping when not actively assisting customers. The essential functions are: assists the public, government agencies, real estate professionals, attorneys and co-workers in researching parcel data and answering questions relating to real property ownership and assessment; and performs a variety of technical duties related to tax mapping. The Mapping Technician classification is distinguished from the Mapper classification in that the Mapping Technician spends a majority of time providing customer service and performs less technically complex mapping duties. Supervision is provided by the Mapping Supervisor.
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in cadastral mapping, GIS mapping, CAD drafting, surveying real property, or other closely related experience. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
