Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to assist in managing the Revenue Commissioner’s Office. The essential functions of this position include opening and closing office each day, counting and balancing cash drawers, maintaining financial records and preparing reports, and answering questions and providing information to employees and the public concerning the assessment and collection of real and business personal property taxes. Duties also include overseeing the collection of bad checks, maintaining payroll and personnel records, and supervising employees engaged in the assessment and collection of current and delinquent property taxes, and in processing the redemption of property which has been previously sold for unpaid taxes. This position reports to the Assistant Chief Revenue Clerk.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and five (5) years of experience in the collection, accounting (balancing, reconciling problems) and reporting of tax revenue; and must have one year of supervision of tax revenue personnel or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work overtime and to travel out of the County to attend classes, training seminars, workshops, etc. Must be bondable and qualified to be a Notary Public.
