The fundamental reason this position exists is to provide operational
leadership and oversight for the operational functions of the Parks and
Recreation Department’s recreation facilities. The Assistant Director, Parks
and Recreation Operations, is responsible for ensuring consistent, high‑quality
operations across the City’s recreation facilities, including community
centers, specialty facilities, and related assets. Responsibilities include
providing coordinated direction for facility operations, promoting alignment
across divisions, and supporting the effective delivery of recreation programs,
community engagement, and public services. The incumbent leads operational
readiness for new and renovated facilities, oversees facility performance
standards, and ensures coordinated responses to operational needs by guiding
and supervising facility managers and supervisors in implementing departmental
goals. This classification reports directly to the Director of Parks and
Recreation.
A Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation
Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field,
and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and
recreation operations, facility management, public services operations, with one
(1) year of supervisory experience overseeing staff in a recreational, facility,
or operational setting. Experience
coordinating readiness for capital projects is a plus.
