The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform food preparation and service related tasks. The food service environments include areas such as concessions, fast food, special events, and catering events. The essential functions of this classification are: performs inventory and cashier duties; prepares and serves food items and alcoholic beverages; cleans and maintains kitchen and dining area; and contributes to department objectives. The Food Service Worker I is supervised by the Food Service Worker II and the Assistant Food Service Director.
Six months of food preparation experience (other than salad bar preparation) that includes making money transactions; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess current Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification.
NOTE:Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the
requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Work will include nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to lift food supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. Must have and maintain a valid Alabama Driver's License and insurable driving record as needed to operate City owned vehicles to transport food items and supplies.
AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 21 years of age and able to serve alcoholic beverages.
