The fundamental reason this
position exists is to assist with the direction of the Montgomery Zoo education
programming. Work responsibilities include
assisting citizens and/or teachers with developing educational materials or
programs; contributes support to the education programs by researching, planning
and preparing education support materials; performs animal care duties; assists
with preparing and giving public presentations; provides assists with recruiting,
training, managing and planning the activities of adult and youth
volunteers. Work is performed under the
general supervision of the Zoo Education Curator at Montgomery Zoo.
High school diploma or GED and six
(6) months of paid experience working with the care of wild and exotic animals.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must be willing to work nights,
holidays or weekends as needed to promote special events or programs and to
attend out of town conferences or meetings as needed. Must be able to obtain a
TB test and CPR training within the first month of employment.
