The fundamental reason this position exists is to oversee and promote all City of Montgomery Recreation Department programs. The general duties include professional and administrative work in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and supervising recreation programs and services of the Recreation Division.
The essential functions of the job are: oversees all City of Montgomery recreation programs; performs financial duties; supervises recreation division employees; performs administrative duties; and maintains accurate records. This position reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation.
Must have graduated from a four-year college or university with a degree in Recreation Administration, or closely related degree, and must have a minimum of five (5) years of recreation programming experience in a municipal recreation environment similar in size to the City of Montgomery which must include at least three (3) years of experience at a supervisory level. Supervisory level experience is defined as experience which not only includes supervising multiple employees at recreation centers or parks, but also includes involvement in the decision making processes that influence the scheduling, programming and staffing at a large recreation facility with five (5) or more full time employees. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must be willing to work weekends or after normal work hours in order to manage and supervise parks, special facilities and recreation program events. Must be available to be on call on weekends as assigned.
