The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform manual and clerical duties in a library. Employees in this classification are closely supervised and are primarily responsible for shelving and organizing materials in the library.
Other major responsibilities include answering general questions from patrons, preparing meeting areas, preparing displays and decorations, performing light maintenance and/or housekeeping, and assisting staff with a variety of tasks. Supervision is typically received from Librarians. This classification differs from the Library Assistant classifications in that Library Assistants are typically assigned to more technical tasks such as providing reference assistance and performing circulation duties.
High school diploma or G.E.D. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Some Library Page positions may be required to work nights and weekends. Some positions may be part time. Some positions may require an Alabama Driver's License. $9.3591 per hour
HOW TO APPLY:
Applications are passed out and accepted ONLY on Tuesday afternoons between the hours of 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM at the Library Administration Office on the 2nd floor of the Main Library located at 245 High Street. Applications will NOT be passed out or accepted on any other day or at any other time.
