Events Planner (#CI6721)

Pay Grade

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to book, coordinate, and plan various events on the city-owned and operated Riverboat. While the classification’s main responsibility focuses on events occurring on the Riverboat, the Events Planner also regularly works closely with Events Coordinators, the Events Manager, and the Box Office Manager on special and annual events organized and/or sponsored by the City utilizing various facilities including but not limited to Union Station Train Shed, Riverwalk Stadium, AlleyWay, and downtown streets.  The Events Planner is distinguished from the Events Coordinator in that the Events Coordinators typically have more responsibilities in marketing, developing sponsorship relationships, and planning and managing events in multiple locations.  Primary work responsibilities may include: serving as the first point of contact for the Special Events Division’s main office; providing ticket sales service to walk-in customers at the main office; serving as the point of contact for Riverboat inquires; determining customers’ needs through phone, written, and face-to-face interactions; creating and managing contracts for all Riverboat rentals; providing written and oral review of detailed event notes for all cruises; maintaining an events calendar of all Riverboat events; assisting the Box Office Manager in maintaining ticketing equipment; assisting Events Coordinators in the planning and coordination of various annual, multi-facility use, and one-time special events; and collaborating with Events Coordinators and Events Manager on future planning.  The Events Planner receives supervision from the Riverfront Superintendent.
