The
fundamental reason this class exists is to perform highly strenuous unskilled or
semi-skilled work under extreme or adverse working conditions. Work
responsibilities include performing maintenance work such as landscaping,
grounds maintenance, and event setups, operating equipment such as zero turn
mowers, tree trimming equipment and other non-CDL equipment, performing
semi-skilled trades work, and assisting crews on various labor such as roofing,
concrete or construction work. Work may
be performed independently or as a member of a crew and is usually closely
supervised.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and six
(6) months of experience performing routine maintenance or mechanical duties
such as ground maintenance, landscaping duties, setting up events, or assisting
maintenance crews with various labor.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Some
positions require the use of departmental vehicles for departmental
business. Individuals must be capable of
operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an
insurable driving record.
