The fundamental reason that this job exists is to provide administrative support in the City Development Department. Incumbents work in one of the three divisions of the City Development Department–Land Use Controls, Grants, and Planning. The work is characterized by the performance of a variety of activities associated with the administration of and record keeping for the City's grant management functions, land use control functions, planning functions, and administrative functions. The Assistant position is considered the entry level classification to the technical classifications associated with the City Development Department. Work is performed under the general supervision of other technical staff and/or professional level supervisors and managers.
High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent. One year of responsible and varied clerical and administrative experience including or supplemented by six months of experience providing clerical support in the areas of land use, planning, or grants management. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
