The fundamental reason that this job exists is to coordinate compliance with the procedural requirements of the City zoning ordinances relating to historic preservation and to ensure that federal and state historic preservation requirements are met by zoning projects. Works closely with the Architectural Review Board and the Historic Preservation Commission. The Preservation Coordinator reviews applications for historic designation and changes to historic properties and structures and determines how the City zoning ordinances relate to the request for historic designation. In addition to historic preservation work, employee handles all historic properties complaints received by the Planning Controls Division. The Assistant Land Use Control Administrator oversees the work of the Preservation Coordinator.
Bachelor's degree with major course work in planning, architecture, historic preservation or closely related field and two years of responsible experience working with historic preservation ordinances, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
