Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform skilled court
clerical work that supports the daily operations of the Municipal Court.
Employees in this class are responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate
processing of court-related documents and activities while providing technical
and procedural information to the public, attorneys, and judges. The work
responsibilities include performing general and specialized clerical duties in
support of Municipal Court operations, assisting the Municipal Court Judge
before, during, and after court sessions, preparing and maintaining required
documents and records for court sessions and hearings, receiving and processing
misdemeanor guilty pleas, dismissing certain violations following applicable
laws and court procedures, open court sessions, performing criminal history
searches and maintaining related logs and records. The Court Operations Clerk
II differs from the Court Operations I by the broader range of duties,
including the complexities of responsibilities performed. Employees exercise
greater discretion within established laws and guidelines and work with
increased independence. Work is performed under the supervision of the Court
Operations Supervisor and the Municipal Court Administrator.
High
school diploma or G.E.D and four (4) years of clerical or legal experience.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must
be certified as a Municipal Court Clerk or Magistrate. Must meet annual
continuing educational requirements as prescribed
by the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts. Will be required to
obtain the ACJIS/NCIC Certification within six (6) months of employment as
prescribed by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Must meet annual
continuing certification requirements as prescribed by ALEA. Must be willing to
telecommute and work overtime as needed to accomplish department objectives.
