Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to assist in the planning, development and organization of neighborhood associations in community self-help activities. The Neighborhood Services Director plans, coordinates, facilitates and attends meetings and special events such as neighborhood association meetings, community interest meetings and neighborhood days to address issues such as rules, regulations and community programs. Collects and analyzes material using the internet, manuals in support of grants and reports. Identifies, develops and implements programs in order to address specific community and neighborhood needs. Assists in obtaining, reviewing and managing contracts, grants and budgets in order to monitor funds for various projects. Establishes and facilitates the development of relationships between community or neighborhood leaders, residents, politicians and outside agencies. The major responsibilities for this classification include administering and monitoring grant projects/contracts, networking, developing events and programs, developing and providing resources for volunteer groups, and performing related plan implementation and administrative tasks. This classification reports to the Director of Economic Development.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Marketing or related field and three (3) or more years of experience working with a nonprofit or as a community liaison to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs and services, strategic planning and community outreach.

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must work nights, weekends and holidays as required. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as needed to travel to various locations to conduct neighborhood meetings and training. Physical ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds as needed to prepare and conduct meetings and training.
