Nature of Work

The fundamental reason that this position exists is to advise upper management in the creation, development, analysis, implementation, and adaptation of budgetary matters and financial management policy. The primary work responsibilities of this position include: developing and obtaining financial data and information, preparing and processing financial documents and related information, evaluating financial data and information, providing consultation and expert advice to departments and City officials, serving as a lead worker, and completing various administrative tasks. Employee performs assignments requiring developed judgment and discretion in the application of professional budgeting principles and practices. Employee performs a variety of and/or assume on-going responsibility for an element of a larger budget program, or a program of limited scope. Employee may lead or supervise subordinate clerical or paraprofessional staff on a project basis, or in a limited context. This position reports to the Budget Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field. At least three (3) years of experience in budgeting, as it relates to general fund accounting.  

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.  

PREFERENCE STATEMENT: Municipal experience is preferred.
