POSITION DUTIES

General Purpose: The Research Assistant will work closely with the Director of Research and Strategic Communications and other members of the Communications team to help analyze and interpret key data to inform vital messaging on the governor’s policies and initiatives.

Responsibilities: 
  • Maintain a comprehensive research book that catalogues Governor Moore’s accomplishments, daily news bullets, and agency actions. 
  • Oversee media monitoring, transcription processes, a video archive, fact-checking, and assist in the approvals processes within the Office of Communications. 
  • Assist the Moore administration's vetting operation, conducting vets and background information on individuals, businesses, non-profits, and locations that may be associated with the Governor. 
  • Assist in producing research memos and tasks. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior research experience, preferably in a government, political, campaign, or educational environment. 
  • Ability to keep up with the 24 hour news cycle. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and execute tasks on tight deadlines. 
  • Ability to write, edit, and fact-check documents with precision. 
  • A clear understanding of politics and the national media environment. 
  • Prior experience with Nexis and other research databases. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and strict attention to details.
