The office plans, promotes, and funds efforts with government entities, private organizations, and the community to advance public policy, enhance public safety, reduce crime and juvenile delinquency, and serve victims.

Main Purpose of Job
The P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Coordinator serves as the linchpin in fostering community safety and crime
prevention initiatives with local law enforcement officials and community leaders in Prince
George’s County.
Tasked with ensuring the optimal utilization of existing crime prevention programs and grants,
coordinating community and youth activities, and mobilizing efforts to reclaim public spaces, the Coordinator plays a pivotal role in maintaining public safety. Rapid response to public nuisances and close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies characterize the Coordinator's approach, aimed at fostering positive relationships and building trust within the community. By spearheading strategies to reduce crime rates and engaging with public safety partners, community leaders, and faith-based organizations, the Coordinator works within a collaborative framework to uphold the objectives outlined in Senate Bill 929, 2020/Chapter 20, 2021. Through teamwork and proactive engagement, the Coordinator endeavors to create safer and more secure environments for all residents within the jurisdiction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate needs to live in Prince George's County, to be eligible for this position.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a criminal justice or social services environment.
Experience working with community and/or business groups and leaders to raise awareness in order to facilitate change.
Experience analyzing statistics/data and putting this into a report or spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel.
