POSITION DUTIES
Unique opportunity to join an experienced leadership team as an Executive Associate I in the Legal Division of the Comptroller of Maryland. The Comptroller acts as the elected chief financial officer of the State of Maryland. The office sees every dollar into the State, and every dollar out. There is no other statewide elected financial officer like it in the country in terms of the breadth of its duties.
This position performs administrative support work and acts as the assistant to the Director of the Legal Division and also serves as the personnel associate and content advisor for the Division. Responsibilities include: managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and reports; maintaining and keeping inventory of supplies for the Legal Division; scheduling; preparation and submission of recruitment and hiring packages; monitoring probationary, non-competitive, and competitive promotion paperwork for timely submission; tracking and submission of performance planning and evaluation program documents; performing other duties related to maintenance and submission of personnel documents for Division management and staff; assisting in creating and maintaining organizational systems, using both analog and cloud-based electronic tools; indexing, tagging, and storing correspondence, published guidance, private letter rulings, record retention schedules, and other documents; adding, removing, and maintaining approved content in the Division’s public facing online legal library, Comptroller’s intranet, Comptroller’s website, and Comptroller’s document management systems; proofreading and formatting public guidance for publication; acting as a liaison to the Information Technology Division to assist the Division in optimizing Comptroller technical solutions for document management, storage, retrieval, and internal and external user access; assists staff in researching tax returns for Court Orders; prepare reports, documents, and regulations for submission.
The Legal Division supports over 1200 coworkers and over 3.5 million Maryland taxpayers by providing guidance on a wide variety of matters under the Comptroller's authority including personal and corporate income tax, sales and use tax, alcohol and tobacco taxes, motor fuel tax, digital advertising gross revenues tax, administration of unclaimed property, business registration and regulation, tax compliance, tax law training, implementation of Maryland General Assembly legislative initiatives, and more. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency
certificate.
Experience: Four years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
NOTES:
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience using electronic document management systems.
- One year of experience as a law clerk or paralegal.
- One year of experience using SharePoint.
- One year of experience using Adobe Experience Manager.
