Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Investigates complaints filed by consumers against aforementioned licened and unlicensed individuals, using interviewing skills and techniques, possesses a thorough knowledge of mechanical licensing practices, laws, regulations and documents, discusses complaints, prepares a thorough written report of findings, responds to telephone inquires and manages an investigative case load.
- Meets with Department counsel to review claims, complaints and investigative reports to unsure that all pertinent documentation is included
- Testifies at administrative, regulatory hearings, civil trials and criminal trials representing the mechanical licensing boards
- Maintain daily case logs, updates case files/database (AS400); weekly itinerary; monthly statistics and expense reports
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience conducting investigations of alleged non-compliance with state laws and regulations, which govern the licensing and practices of business occupations and professions.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Compliance Inspection and Support classifications or Compliance Inspection and Support specialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Experience in a criminal, civil, or administrative field
Experience interviewing people and able to write complex reports
Experience with effectively communicating when testifying in a court of law or an administrative hearing

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(MDOL/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to MDOL/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
