POSITION DUTIES

The Comptroller’s General Accounting Division has 2 Administrative Officer II positions available: Tax Reporting Specialist and Vendor Services Support Specialist. Come join our team!

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detailed oriented, and intellectually curious. Most importantly, they will be a collaborator and partner who will help to support the General Accounting Division. 

The Tax Reporting Specialist provides direct support and ongoing review of vendor tax reporting activities including: 

  • 1099 development, issuance, and submission
  • Backup Withholding coordination
  • IRS levies and federal offset management and CPC Accounting functions in the ERP. 

This position will interface with the Comptroller's 21CFSE initiative, including direct work with the project team, as needed, as well as supporting GAD processes. This involves supporting various accounting functions pertaining to the division's appropriated and non-appropriated accounts and other special projects as assigned. Support for each of these programs includes learning processes by working in tandem with existing GAD staff.

The Vendor Services Support Specialist provides direct support and ongoing review of the Vendor Services unit including: vendor maintenance, good standing certificate activities, and vendor ACH setup activities. 

This position will interface with the Comptroller's 21CFSE initiative, including direct work with the project team, as needed, as well as supporting GAD processes. Work assignments may include special studies and analysis for the division. Functions include the review of vendor table change transactions, ensuring transactions are in accordance with internal controls, implementing and maintaining process systems and software, and customer service quality control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalence evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
