Maryland Cannabis Administration, Office of Compliance & Regulation/Division of Regulatory Affairs, Linthicum, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This position will provide administrative assistance to the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA)'s Office of Compliance and Regulation (OCR)'s Division of Regulatory Affairs (DRA). This position will work closely with the DRA's Manager by providing assistance with the organization and maintenance of licensing, hearing, and other investigative files. This position will also communicate with licensees, via phone and/or e-mail, regarding any corrections, additions and/or updates for licensing and other submissions, in addition to answering any licensee questions or redirecting the licensee to the appropriate resource.

Furthermore, this position will be responsible for assisting DRA staff members with the investigations of advertisements, as well as with the coordination of communication with licensees regarding advertising issues and any disciplinary actions related to those issues. Finally, this position will serve as vital support to MCA's Hearing Office, which hears matters which arise from license application denials and/or disciplinary actions taken against licensees and registrants.

This position will be responsible for the full performance of administrative work that requires regular usage of independent judgment and analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work experience.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules, or regulations; or analysis of operational programs; or procedures with recommendations for improvement, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have professional customer service experience, as well as professional experience in a legal setting, such as a court, law office, and/or legal department of a large organization. The desired candidate should also have professional experience in a fast-paced work environment, along with excellent organizational skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
