POSITION DUTIES

The Data Steward for the Office of Fair Practices and Inclusion will have primary responsibility for the collection, tracking and analysis of all data pertaining to the functions of the office. They will be responsible for determining how the data will be collected and processed to be in compliance with state and federal regulations. The Data Steward will create office SOPs involving data tracking and processing. 

The Data Steward will work to optimize workflows involving both internal and external communications on data usage/analytics. Given the sensitive nature of the data within the Office of Fair Practices and Inclusion, the Data Steward will ensure appropriate security measures/policies are in place to remain compliant with all applicable regulations. This position will be required to perform complex data analysis as well as responding to both internal and external requests for data falling under the responsibility of the Fair Practices Director.

The Data Steward will serve to advise the Assistant Director of Compliance and Education on developing appropriate training programs to address identified areas of need and to maintain compliance with Civil Rights and employment laws. They will further assist in preparation of training content for the programs being developed by utilizing all available data. This will ensure the training is relevant to needs and is data driven based upon the analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.


Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in creating Standard Operating Procedures governing the collection, processing, and analysis of agency data relating to fair practices and inclusion.

2. Experience in data gathering, analyzing, and report writing on identifying the critical issues and areas relating to fair practices and inclusion.

3. Experience in auditing collected data to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal requirements in employment policies and procedures.


LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
