Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to manage the pharmaceutical inspection process for the board, that includes chain, independent, hospital pharmacies, as well as pharmacy distributors and warehouses.  This position manages the oversight of distributors located outside of the state of MD but doing business in MD, manages a staff of 6 inspectors and manages their inspection schedules by prioritizing the order annual inspections shall occur and recommending follow up action, if needed.  The facility inspector supervisor assists the executive director with developing national presentations on Maryland inspections for the National Boards of Pharmacy, participates in Federal Drug Administration and National Boards of Pharmacy inspections being conducted in pharmacies in MD having potential federal violations.  This position is responsible for developing and editing inspection protocols to accommodate national and/or international pandemics like COVID-19; conduct compounding investigations as needed; participate in PDMP and OCSA agency meetings with the executive director, as needed, and works with MIS to develop new inspection software and databases

This position is eligible for hybrid telework (40% = 2 days weekly) which is subject to approval from the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • a Maryland Pharmacy Technician license  
  • Experience troubleshooting unforeseen circumstances to assist the inspector who is completing on-site inspections
  • Experience analyzing data and combining different data points into one comprehensive presentation
  • Experience troubleshooting IT problems while in the field 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google suite 
  • Excellent communication skills

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
