Main Purpose of Job

This role is in charge of enforcing the relevant personnel rules, norms, and regulations for all transactions conducted by the Office of Human Resources' Workday Transaction Unit. This position reviews and completes a range of personnel transactions in the personnel system, as well as completing personnel transaction paperwork. Respond to questions from the public and employees on employee services, such as the status of activities and information about current and past employees. Handles routine correspondence and directs client issues to the proper personnel. This role will also provide backup coverage for HR's front desk.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Responsible for the processing of personnel transactions and troubleshooting issues.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy, review assigned appointments for new hires and transfers, including any relevant documentation forwarded from Hiring and Promotions.
  • Conduct new hire orientation in collaboration with the Hire and Promotions Unit.
  • Serves as the BCDSS Human Resources custodian of records, allowing employees and officials from other state, federal, and municipal government departments to see personnel data.
  • Provide front desk coverage as a backup in the absence of the primary staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of general clerical or administrative support experience, at least three months must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of personnel procedures, policies, rules and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in human resources assistance classification or human resources assistance specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Six months' experience using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
Six months' experience providing customer support to both internal and external customers.
Six months' expertise utilizing an HRIS system to conduct personnel transactions.
