The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to
provide secretarial supervision and services to an operational/specialized
field unit of the Division of Parole and Probation. This position provides
supervision to clerical employees under their span of control and support staff
within their designated unit.
- Provide support and supervision to these employees and develop methods and procedures which will best produce results in accordance with agency standards, which includes: Plans, schedules, directs, reviews, and evaluates the work of a clerical team.
- Approves time sheets and completes timely performance evaluations on each employee.
- Use standard typewriter or word processing and spreadsheet software and peripheral correspondence, reports, tables, etc., from rough drafts and edit grammar, punctuation and spelling. Distributes finalized documents, sometimes without prior supervisory review.
- Answer phones, screen calls, leave appropriate messages for agents and supervisors, schedule appointments, answer general questions regarding state employment, and job openings, and determine the degree of information allowed in relationship to the confidentiality laws of the state.
