POSITION DUTIES
Would you like to work in Greenbelt? A suburb of Washington, D.C. Located in Prince George’s County, five minutes away from a bustling mall with plenty of shopping and food places, ten minutes away from the University of Maryland. Accessible by Metro and Bus. Directly across the street from Greenbelt Park with plenty of hiking trails.
We are looking for a highly motivated Bilingual (Spanish- English) speaking individual to assist at our Greenbelt Branch Office of the Taxpayer Services Division. This position is to provide assistance to at a beginning level of taxpayer service to taxpayers and tax preparers who contact the local branch office through office visits, by telephone and email. Also includes bilingual/Spanish taxpayer services assistance to taxpayers and tax preparers.
Responsibilities include reviewing and/or preparing appropriate tax returns at a beginning level. Provide telephone assistance at a beginning level to all taxpayers who call the branch office and the contact center with questions related to all tax types. Accept payments in accordance with Trip 21 procedures at a beginning level. Respond to emails regarding tax forms, tax information, adjustments and payment plans to meet the taxpayer service needs of the State at a beginning level. Learn and create basic payment plans according to the guidelines.
Candidates must be able to speak, read and write in fluent Spanish.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience involving one or more of the following areas: customer service, telecommunications, fiscal clerical or clerical related work.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute additional education at an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty credit hours for one year of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at www.naces.org/members.html.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Candidates MUST be able to speak, read, and write in fluent Spanish.
- Employee must be able to work in a full-time capacity: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a. m. to 5:00 pm.
- Evening and weekend work may be required especially during peak times of the year.
- Employee must be able to tolerate an occasional uncomfortable or unpleasant experiences presented by upset or irate taxpayers.
- Work may involve special physical demands such as lifting 25 to 35 pounds, climbing ladders, delivering supplies, etc.
- Employees are unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work for private accounting companies.
- Leave may be limited during certain times of the year due to high volume events, projects or special assignments.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
