Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide insight, analysis, and logistical support for HSCRC legislative and congressional relations; policy and regulatory development, and implementation; stakeholder workgroups; policy studies; legislative reports; communications and press relations; and other ad hoc projects. This role supports the Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) in its mission to improve healthcare quality and patient experience, improve population health and health equity, and control the cost of healthcare for Marylanders. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing new policy related to hospital quality, hospital costs, health delivery system reform, and consumer finance protections, in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a graduate degree from an accredited college or university in public policy, public health, health administration, law or related field, 6 years of professional experience, including three years of experience working in a health policy environment focused on policy or working in a legislative environment focused on health policy. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Expertise in health policy.
  • Knowledge of state legislation, regulatory processes and public policy analysis.
