Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to perform as the Deputy Director for the Contributions Division, to plan and coordinate Division Contributions BEACON initiatives, and to develop and direct financial analysis for departmental legislative policy. Overseeing the 8 functional units in the division.

POSITION DUTIES

This position reports directly to the Director of Contributions at the Maryland Department of Unemployment Insurance (MDUI). The role is responsible for ensuring that the Contributions Division fulfills its duties in detecting and accurately determining UI tax liability, collecting quarterly employer reports and taxes, and accurately accounting for Trust Fund collections and disbursements.

Additionally, this position plans and coordinates the Contributions Division’s information technology initiatives and
provides financial analysis for the department’s legislative policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Must have seven (7) years of experience working in an accounting or financial unit, including five (5) years supervising, managing, and leading teams in accounting reconciliation in finance.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

MUST be a current LABOR/MD Unemployment Insurance employee
Prior supervisory experience

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Leadership Experience   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Google
  • Auditing Experience
  • Ability to handle complex responsibilities.
  • Make strategic decisions.
