Introduction
The Maryland
Department of Commerce is seeking qualified applicants for Director of Foreign
Direct Investment within its Office of International Investment and Trade
(OIIT) within the Division of Business and Industry Sector Development. This
position reports directly to the Senior Director of Office of International
Investment & Trade (OIIT).
This is a
Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing
Authority.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
The Director of
Foreign Direct Investment will implement and oversee a variety of
programs and contracts related to the broader mission of investment attraction
and advise on promotion and marketing strategies. This position directly
supervises the Global Gateway Program Manager and will manage lead generation
contractors for Europe, Canada, and Japan that are not state employees. This
position will also manage the state’s SelectUSA Summit participation and
represent the OIIT at various other international events. Some travel will be required
as well as attendance at national and international events.
The selected
candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills to work with high-level
public, private sector, and international officials and maintain effective
working relationships; excellent written and oral communication skills; the
ability to handle multiple, concurrent and high priority projects and possess
proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail, Salesforce and/or
other relevant software. Some statewide travel is required; as is, this
position represents the OIIT at international events, committee meetings, and
various working groups related to the OIIT in international activities.
