Main Purpose of Job

The mission of the Maryland Board of Physicians is to assure quality health care in Maryland through the efficient licensure and effective discipline of health providers under its jurisdiction, by protecting and educating clients/customers and stakeholders, and enforcing the Maryland Medical Practice Act. The main purpose of the MBP Compliance Analyst is to directly support the mission of MBP by a thorough and timely investigation of assigned cases and the underlying allegations of violations of the Maryland Medical Practice Act. This is a full performance level of work conducting investigations of licensed health professionals and the unlicensed practice of those professions from initial complaint through final disposition of the case. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Five years of experience conducting investigations in the areas of health care, insurance, medical malpractice or other related investigative experience as defined by Maryland Board of Physicians.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience conducting investigations in the areas of health care, insurance, medical malpractice or other related investigative experience as defined by Maryland Board of Physicians for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Legal or Investigator classifications or Legal or Investigator specialty codes in the Investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Familiarity with interpreting statutes and regulations.
  • Experience in oral presentations and testimony.
  • Experience as a Paralegal.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
