Main Purpose of Job

A Maryland State Police (MSP) Maintenance Training Coordinator is the full performance level of technical work conducting initial and recurring training to all aviation maintenance personnel. Employees in this classification are responsible for executing the Training Program, maintaining training manuals and ensuring the Repair Station is in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations.

POSITION DUTIES

Addresses the Command’s needs to identify and comply with overall training requirements and individual employee training requirements. Defines the areas of study, courses and lessons to be made available to the employees. Identifies the training sources and methods available to employees for the areas of study, courses, and lessons. 

Documents employee qualifications and training. Measures the effectiveness of the training program and make changes as necessary.

Ensures compliance with all of the components of the Repair Station Training Manual. Makes recommendations to improve repair station policies, procedures, and instructions. 

Conducts an annual review of the training program to verify any changes that might affect training and analyzes the measure of training effectiveness. 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years of repair station experience.

Note: Candidates may substitute previous Aviation experience in record management for up to two years of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Aviation Maintenance training experience.

2. Aviation Maintenance technician experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle, therefore will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

In accordance with Section 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, Candidates for position in this classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be included for further evaluation. The evaluation will include rating your application based on education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
