MDH Caroline County Health Department, Denton MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be shared between the Adult Evaluation Review Services (AERS) Program (60%) and the Medical Adult Day Care (MADC) Program (40%). The position will provide direct social work services within the Health Department AERS unit to those who need assistance to remain in their homes or who need evaluations done in a nursing or assisting living facility; provide direct social work services within the Health Department MADC unit to those enrolled in services; and, at times, the client may be enrolled in both AERS and MADC programs. This position will also enroll new clients into the MADC Program.

This position is designated Emergency Essential: 24/7 status, may need to respond to a public health emergency and provide own transportation. Position may be required to stay late or come in after hours. The position is also eligible for telework, per the Caroline County Health Department Leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.

Experience: Two years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience interacting with communities and local agencies as well as experience with multi-tasking and communication.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit.

2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
