POSITION DUTIES

This position functions within the Office of Administration and Finance, Support Services Unit. The position will operate one of two hi-speed mail inserting machines. The position is responsible for ensuring that all computer generated checks, forms and tax notices are mailed within 2 days of receipt. This unit uses two (2) state-of-the-art Pitney Bowes mail inserters to process more than 7,000,000 pieces of mail per year. This position will be responsible for operating the mail inserter equipment, performing routine maintenance and ensuring that there are sufficient supplies and envelopes on hand to process our outgoing mail.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in general services functions, office administration activities or in the receiving, storing, issuance, purchase or requisition of equipment, materials, and parts and supplies.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as stated above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Only applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications for this recruitment will be considered for this opportunity. Approval of your application will be based on a review of your education, training and experience. It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application in order to determine if you meet the qualifications as specified above. Due to the nature of this list, all qualified applicants are placed on an unranked list of candidates and will remain active on this list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience as documented on your MS-100; and a demonstration test to ensure your proficient use of high speed mail inserting equipment.  The demonstration test will be conducted using a Pitney Bowes model FX-14 mail inserter. During the test, you will be required to process a limited amount of mail and to demonstrate your ability to add postage to the inserter equipment using the postage-by-phone data stations.  It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application for this position.
