Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the MPT Avid Video Editor position is to provide an intermediate level of creative and technical video editing expertise in both the broadcast finishing and storytelling processes. The goal is to provide the best product, within the limitations of time and resources allotted. This will be accomplished using Avid's Symphony/Media Composer non-linear editing system and/or Adobe's Premiere non-linear editing system along with Adobe's Creative Suite software and any other editing, graphics and audio software needed. The incumbent will provide a professional level of customer service to clients, a working knowledge of general editing systems and equipment operations and a working knowledge of the technical specifications for all networks to which our final products will be distributed. This position will also provide live and pre-recorded studio production support, file-based conversion and media duplication when needed.

 This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. 


Experience: Two (2) years of television video production experience utilizing production switchers and non-linear editing using software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer or Final Cut Pro.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

 

Experience with Avid Symphony, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Creative Cloud Software, XDCAM U1/U2 readers, Avid plug-ins (e.g., Sapphire FX, Moving Picture).

Experience with system equipment such as routing switchers, video servers and equipment control devices.

Experience exporting file-based videos and using transcoding software (i.e., Sorenson Squeeze, Media Encoder, or Digital Rapids/Imagine Software Systems).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to provide a copy of a demo reel or link for a demo reel, if selected for an interview.

This position may require a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

This position may require working outside in unfavorable or harsh weather conditions that might include exposure to the sun, wind, water, etc. 

This position may include long periods of walking, standing, climbing, and maneuvering in and around tight spaces. 

The selected candidate will be required to lift equipment in excess of 50 pounds.

The selected candidate may be required to climb ladders and use motorized lifts in order to operate and install in-studio lights.
