POSITION DUTIES

This is a contractual professional position that will provide assistance in the administration of the Teacher Collaborative Grant Program. The purpose of this grant program is to award grants to multiple collaboratives, which is defined as a partnership between an institution of higher education, and local school system, and a collective bargaining unit, in various regions of the State to develop model, state-of-the-art, professional development programs for prospective and current Maryland teachers. The Grant Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Federal and State Reporting Specialist with administering the grant, to include the collection and maintenance of documentation, processing of grant funds, and dissemination of data. Duties of this position will include communication, organization, planning, document production, and filing; screen/direct telephone calls & email inquiries for the office to ensure appropriate and timely response; maintain contact lists of key groups & organizations; manage requests for information from the office & track responses; organize & maintain files for grants & correspondence to ensure availability & retrieval of information using electronic and paper filing systems; format and type text, charts, & graphs for reports to relay information about the program & to meet reporting requirements; update statistical data & compile information; create & maintain records for grant awards & procurement for grant activities; process invoices from grant recipients; prepare correspondence related to grant awards & grant oversight.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of administrative, librarian, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, library or rehabilitation programs. 

Notes: 
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as defined above directly related to the position at the rate of one year of experience for each year of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
3. The above requirements are set by the Maryland State Department of Education in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104, Annotated Code of Maryland.

• Experience with grant management of an educational program
• Knowledge of State & Federal laws, regulations & policies governing education
• Experience with fiscal & financial management
• Experience processing/reviewing invoices
• Experience with Data Management
• Proficient with Microsoft office suite

SELECTION PROCESS

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
