Main Purpose of Job

Supervise the Workforce and Technology Center (WTC) on the evening shift to ensure the consistent and effective operation of the Center. Provide direct supervision to evening shift staff who are assigned to provide and oversee consumer residential and enrichment services including provide crisis counseling and supportive teaching. Ensure the maintenance of a healthy, safe, and sanitary environment for consumers. Assess, plan, implement, and perform enrichment services that sustains the vocational goals of individuals with severe disabilities. Serve as the Lead for the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) security staff on the evening shift in absence of supervisor.

The shift will be primarily Sunday-Thursday 3:00p-11:30p but may be adjusted to cover other shifts as needed.

POSITION DUTIES

Manage, coordinate, and monitor the WTC operation on the evening shift. Assess emergency and crisis situations, and provide leadership and technical support to staff during emergency/crisis situations. Supervise staff to ensure they inspect and monitor residential and enrichment services for safety, security, and cleanliness. Provide monitoring and supervision of consumers receiving enrichment and residential services to ensure compliance with Center, enrichment, and residential rules. Provide advice and guidance to staff in observing and reacting to the behavior of consumers and suggest methods of de-escalating potential issues or situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: Two years of administrative, librarian, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, library or rehabilitation programs.  

Notes:
1. Additional experience as defined above directly related to the position may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education.
2. Possession of a Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. The above requirements are set by the Maryland State Department of Education in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with the adult disabled population.
Experience working in a residential setting.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland, and their driving records will be subject to investigation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
