Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to oversee, plan, and manage the Board pf Pharmacy's information technology system.

This position will also:
  • Oversee the Board's operating budget; 
  • Manage board operations in the absence of the Executive Director;  
  • Oversee and manage the Board's project monitor for all special contracts (Future special projects will include a new licensing system);
  • Responsibility for the management of MIS contracts and vendors;
  • Analyze technical needs of the Board of Pharmacy and supervises additions and revision to the MIS;
  • Prepare fiscal and information systems reports for the Executive Director;
  • Report current financial status of revenue and expenditure activity and delivers budget and information systems reports to the Board as needed;
  • Plan and develops communication processes with outside vendors and chairs regular meetings with vendors;
  • Provides reports and updates on special projects;
  • Meets with Maryland Board Budget Director to maintain updated and accurate information on the status of the Board budget and develops reports as needed on the budget, procurement and vendor and fiscal and program status for review by the Executive Director; 
  • Coordinates, meets and answers external federal state and health department auditor issues; 
  • Fleet manager for Board;
  • Approves monthly credit card expenditures for Board activity;
  • Telecommunications manager to coordinate and purchase cell phones for Board;
  • Inventory manager for Board; 
  • Supervises the database and network MIS personnel to support activities of the Board and all vendor contract monitors which currently includes 5 contracts; and, 
  • Interprets and implements current and new MDH Budget and procurement policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years of professional IT experience, preferably in a health or human services environment, that must have included 2 years of managerial or supervisory experience.

A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:

  • Experience managing, leading, and supervising
  • Experience and knowledge of technical jargon
  • Experience directing IT vendors

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
