Main Purpose of Job

The Division of Recoveries and Financial Services (DRAFS) is the sole state agency responsible for operating third party liability programs through which other sources of payment for Medical Assistance recipients' health care are discovered, and money spent on behalf of the recipients is recovered from sources allowed by federal or state law. The Division is a branch of the Medical Care Operations Administration. The main purpose of this full-time position will be to identify, evaluate and analyze potential Third Party Liability (TPL) situations to determine the States potential claim against Third Party resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience conducting analysis, collecting data, establishing facts and defining problems;
  • Experience handling and/or managing a high volume workload;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel);
  • Experience with the Maryland Management Information System (MMIS).
