The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. POSITION DUTIES

The purpose of this position is to manage staff responsible for collecting, analyzing, evaluating and disseminating criminal disposition information relating to individuals with criminal records in the Maryland computerized criminal history (CCH) database.

Serves as the CJIS representative to the NICS task force. Works with various state agency Heads and Directors to compiles and coordinates information to develop the State of Maryland's NICS Improvement Plan. Collects data from various agencies to keep track of the number of records in the NICS database, which are submitted to the FBI NICS database

Determines how the task force can implement ways to ensure that DPSCS, DHMH and Courts record numbers are as close to as possible. 
Recommends and develops a variance report to work on ways to improve accuracy of records. Manage workflow processes to meet Managing For Results and ACT performance data associated with multiple database systems; example, not limited to (CJIS, JIS, Web-Archive, Remedy, etc.) Prepare timely statistical report (s) daily, weekly and/or monthly: Collect, analyze CHRl data for error reporting (internal & external findings). Crystal Reporting (data analysis).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year for up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Experience performing professional Criminal Justice Investigative research.  
2. Experience handling criminal history records. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
