Main Purpose of Job

The purpose of this position is to serve as the lead employee for providing information technology system support and maintaining operability of 120 network computers and several audio-visual systems located in, but not limited to, eight Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG) Distance Learning (DL) Centers located in MDARNG facilities throughout the state. This position coordinates and provides systems administration support for workstations/computers, printers and audio-visual equipment associated with the DL Centers. This position is responsible for the execution of DL program for the MDARNG, coordinating with customers and site personnel to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the DL Program. The position is responsible for installing and testing the system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining workstations hardware and software. This position reports daily to the MDARNG G6 office at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation and has responsibility to travel to DL Centers throughout the State as needed to provide support to the DL Centers. Performs related duties as assigned. This position requires a Secret level security clearance and CompTIA Security+ certification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.  

Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. 

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for five years of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 1. One year of experience with DoD information systems. 
 2. Two or more years program management experience. 
 3. One year of customer service support experience.
 4. Experience with maintaining multiple distance learning sites.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. This position requires a CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent and the ability to maintain the certification. 
2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates for positions will be required to apply for a criminal background check, as well as the ability to pass and maintain, as a condition of continued employment, a Secret level Security clearance required for system administrator privileges on the MDARNG Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) network.

2. Maintains without lapse CompTIA Security+ certification by passing the periodic recertification exam and/or continuing education for recertification as necessary. 

3. This position requires a valid Maryland Motor Vehicle operator's license class C with less than five points in order to operate state vehicles.

4. This position requires statewide travel.

Leave Benefits include:
* Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date). 
* Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year.
