POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to create safe communities and maintain Departmental standards by organizing and directing the activities of assigned work units of the Drinking Driving Monitor Program first-line supervisors and respective assigned Monitors.

  • Directs and guides first line supervisory and support staff by evaluating definitive work assignments and controlling and coordinating schedules in order to ensure agency mandates are attained. 
  • Reviews and approves administrative forms, documents, records and reports by reading and signing, when required, in order to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency standards. 
  • Analyzes and assesses employee performance by completing audits and/or observing and reviewing work produced by staff in order to evaluate and rate compliance with agency standards.
  • Instructs and guides subordinate staff by providing on-the-job training and monitor compliance with training mandates in order to maintain and/or enhance job skills and performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:  Eight years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. 

Notes
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. 
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Two years of experience as a Drinking Driver Monitor Supervisor I. 
2. Experience reviewing and approving records and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency standards. 
3. Experience auditing and completing employee performance. 
4. Experience providing on the job training and/or providing mentorship to others.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
