Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose is to distribute medication as needed to the Cadets of MDFCA under the supervision of the MDFCA Charge Nurse (RN). Responsible for administrative support of medical operations. Manage office records, supplies and maintenance for medical facility. Also arranges and monitors required examinations and test. Promotes good Cadet health and hygiene practices. Advises Cadet selection committee on facts about medical issues. Advises Charge Nurse and Deputy Director on administrative medical matters. Dispenses physician ordered medications in conjunction with CMT guidelines. Participates in the teaching of Health and Hygiene class to Cadets. Coordinates Staff and Cadet wellness plans and provides healthy initiative updates working with the Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant. Assists in transporting Cadets to and from medical appointments and urgent care visits.

POSITION DUTIES

Assures medical record keeping, supplies and equipment maintenance
Assists in oversight of physical operations of Medical Department
Dispenses prescription medications per CMT
Screens Cadet applications and health questionnaires
Makes recommendations to Cadet acceptance team on Cadet health information on application
Assists in scheduling urgent care visits and transporting Cadets to and from medical appointments
Attends and participates in staff and professional conferences and trainings
Advises Cadet parents/guardians on medical information
Participates in MDFCA program activities for medical considerations and makes recommendations
Participates in the planning and instruction of Health and Hygiene class for Cadets

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess current license as a Medication Technician.
Six months experience working with at risk youth.

This position is located on a military base and you must pass a DOD background check in order to enter in on the base.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
