POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide a wide and varied range of administrative and contract oversight duties to the Director of the Veterans Home Program, ensuring all that work is completed in an accurate and expeditious manner.

Assist in the contract monitoring of the management contract for Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, specifically oversight of the activities program, donations, volunteer services and food quality.
Create spreadsheets for donation tracking, gift letters, sympathy letters, DBM/Gift and Grant Acceptance Forms every six months.  

Update resident demographic statistical charts monthly.

Maintain the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home website and Facebook page.  Update accordingly.

Assist in planning and implementation of the annual Volunteer Appreciation Program, Memorial Day program, Veterans Day Program, Cruisin Southern Maryland Car Show, Bi-Annual Art Gallery Show and other veteran/community events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years experience in working with volunteers, veteran service organizations and community service organizations and demonstrated ability to maintain those relationships.

Two years of experience using the following computer software: Word, Excel, Quicken, Access, Publisher, Power Point, Internet Explorer, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive.

Two years of experience interacting with customers/public in the following manners: telephone, e-mail, written correspondence, face-to-face contact.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally an in writing.

Ability to work independently using sound judgment and decision-making skills to determine processes, gather information and prioritize tasks. 

Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage conflicting priorities.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
