Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park, Church Creek MD (Dorchester County)

POSITION DUTIES

Customer service duties will include providing current information to customers on park policies, regulations and service charges. The incumbent will be responsible for distributing mail and maintaining office files, compiling statistical data to include visitation figures, and purchasing office supplies for park staff. The incumbent will prepare and process park invoices and bank deposits, and monitor expenditures, corporate card purchases, and encumbrances. The position is responsible for reconciling revenue, and tracking concession sales and park inventories, and preparing seasonal contracts. Additionally, this position makes recommendations concerning operational needs and priorities and responds to inquiries from the public and park staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Three years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience monitoring and reconciling fiscal, budgetary, or inventory resources.

Coursework successfully completed in the areas of budgeting, finance, accounting, or a related field of study.

Experience using the following computer software: Word, Excel, Quicken, Access, Publisher, Internet Explorer, Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive.

Experience using the following office hardware/equipment: printers, scanners, personal computer, external hard drives, copier, digital phone system, and cash register.

Customer service experience via telephone, e-mail, and face to face.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
