POSITION DUTIES

The Shared Services Division within the OPSB, DBM, is seeking individuals to work at the SPS Help Desk to assist with system user support calls. Successful candidates will function in a support role in the Division, and shall be able to work independently.

Specifically, duties involve resetting system passwords, walking employees through system processes, following up to make sure issues have been resolved, and providing feedback about the system.

This is a temporary position that will start in August 2022 and end in December 2022.  Core work hours are from 8:00 to 5:00, for an 8 hour a day schedule during these times.  This is remote work.  We provide work equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:   Two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent verbal and communications skills

Previous help desk support experience

Current software experience with Google

Proficient at intermediate level in MS Office including Word, Excel

Extensive experience researching materials using the internet, explaining process steps to others and interest in learning new software applications

Team player

Customer-focused, sense of urgency to resolve issues

Well organized, self-starter who eagerly approaches new challenges

Proven ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and maturity

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.

Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.  The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
