POSITION DUTIES

The Institutional Parole Associate Supervisor serves as the Commission’s primary liaison within Division of Correction Institutions in order to facilitate the Commission’s hearing and decision-making processes, and to provide inmates with all the parole-related rights and processes they are afforded under the law and the Parole Commission’s procedures. The IPA supervisor supervise the Institutional Parole Associates I and II via periodic staff meetings, one-to-one contact and periodic on-site visits, and ensures that the policies and procedures regarding pre-hearing and post-hearing IPA functions and services are up-to-date and applied uniformly and consistently.

  • Determines if inmates wish to proceed with parole or revocation hearings and or wish to take advantage of certain rights connected to the hearing
  • Conducts reviews of parole files with inmates upon inmate request
  • Certifies service of written parole/revocation/suspension decisions upon inmates
  • Releases inmates pursuant to Parole Release Orders
  • Coordinates and communicates with institutions, institutional personnel and inmates as the Commission’s liaison in order to facilitate Commission hearings and other functions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience interviewing inmates and preparing case files for parole hearings.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Experience utilizing OCMS (Offenders Case Management System)

2. Experience  conducting performance evaluations, approving leave, and utilizing workday

This position is limited to current Maryland State employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification may be required to have access to a motor vehicle. Standard mileage will be paid.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to work at other institutions whenever workload levels warrant reassignment.
