The Maryland Department of the Environment is seeking applicants to fill an Agency Grants Specialist Supervisor position within the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program/Land and Materials Administration.  This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of the Environment.  This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only.  The resulting cert list will be maintained for one year.  Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

Main Purpose of Job

The Agency Grants Specialist Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the financial administration of the Land and Materials Administration (LMA) grants. The incumbent will monitor grant funding sources, and be responsible for monitoring deliverables, expenditures, and disbursements. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing budgetary support and management and will review, track, and monitor all MOU's, Contracts, and Interagency Agreements entered into by LMA. The Agency Grants Specialist Supervisor is the first line supervisor providing leadership and direction to subordinate staff within the Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Nine years of experience in grant evaluation and monitoring or budget preparation, presentation and execution.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in grant evaluation and monitoring or budget preparation, presentation and execution for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute graduate education from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration at a rate of 30 credit hours for five years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service  experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred that the selected candidate have a Bachelor's degree(s) in the following disciplines:

 

· Accounting

· Business Administration 

· Finance
