Introduction
This is a statement recruitment for
the Maryland State Police Facilities Management Division, Maintenance Mechanic
Senior. The two (2) vacancies are
located in Baltimore County and Carroll County, Maryland. When applying for this

Main Purpose of Job
Support the maintenance and repair
of Maryland State Police property by performing repairs, tracking repair
requests, purchase orders and invoices.
POSITION DUTIES
Performs preventative maintenance,
construction and repair work at the semi-skilled level in several trades;
Prepares walls for painting;
Erects temporary or permanent
fencing;
Trains and leads Maintenance
Mechanics, semi-skilled and unskilled workers
May operate automobiles, pick-up and
panel trucks, tractors, and power mowers;
May inspect buildings and grounds
for adherence to institutional safety and sanitary regulations;
Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Four years of
experience in any combination of the maintenance trades, three years must be in
the trades of electricity, plumbing, steam fitting, refrigeration or air
conditioning.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute
additional experience in any of the maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis
for up to three years of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute the
possession of a degree from an accredited vocational or technical high school
with a major in Building Maintenance or a related field for up to three years
of the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S.
Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in
utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty
codes in any combination of maintenance trades, on a year-for-year basis for
the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to
applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear

1. Experience in determining actions
to be taken for repairs and/or in an emergency situation
2. Experience using computers to
solicit and track work requests
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may
be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees
assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's
license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates will be subject to an
initial drug screen and a complete background investigation to include a
polygraph investigation before appointment can be made. A criminal conviction
may be grounds for rejection of the candidate. Employees in this classification
will be required to provide a telephone number where they can be reached.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet the minimum
qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is
essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your
application. Successful candidates will be placed on the employment Eligible
List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED and QUALIFIED and remain
eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination.
The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will consist of a
rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements
of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement,
or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and
education that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physical
examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation,
polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
