Main Purpose of Job

The Child and Adolescent Coordinator is responsible coordinating services related to children, adolescents, and young adults that are in need of mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services community-based and out-of-home services. Job Duties: - Link, refer, and follow up on consumers (children, adolescents, and young adults) and families for mental health and SUD services including community-based services to prevent inpatient hospitalization and/or out-of-home placements such as Residential Treatment Center, Therapeutic Group Home, and Therapeutic Foster Care. - Represent the Bureau of Behavioral Health on various teams and meetings. - Coordinate various grants for the Bureau of Behavioral Health. - Other duties as assigned by the Bureau Director. Performs other related duties, including but not limited to accepting responsibility for special projects as assigned. Participates in appropriate professional education and training for roles and responsibilities of work assignments, as requested or approved by supervisor, and -participates in Emergency Preparedness drills or actual events.

This position is hybrid (combination of telework and in-office hours).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

ExperienceThree years of professional experience in health services, two years must have been in the Mental Health option.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. Experience in the Mental Health option must be as follows: professional work related to treatment and services for mentally ill patients.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services for the required.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Desired Candidate will have

  • Experience coordinating and facilitating meetings, including participants from multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of child, youth, and young adult mental health needs and resources. 
  • Experience/knowledge with the assessment and referral process for mental health services. 
  • Experience in writing grants. 
  • Experience with grant monitoring (tracking funding, planning, implementation and data reporting).
