Main Purpose of Job

The Investigative Auditor reports directly to the Supervisory Inspector – Investigative Audits, and is responsible for conducting audits of the local school systems.

This is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Business, Business Management, or related field.

Experience: Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. 

AND

Five years of work experience in the field of education investigative audits, internal audits, auditing, inspection, or a related field.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.  

CPA with current practice in the field of external auditing. (Certification must be current.)

Five years experience conducting audits in accordance with professional auditing standards, with at least five years auditing in accordance with Government auditing standards.

Five years experience planning, organizing, developing, implementing and evaluating multiple engagements simultaneously in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and Governmental Auditing Standards, including assessment of internal controls.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and possible travel throughout the State are required. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.
