Main Purpose of Job

Conducts investigations for the Office of the Inspector General for Education (OIGE) and manages the resources necessary to ensure the investigative mission is met. Activities, functions, and services delivered impact OIGE activities, other agencies, and/or operations of other law enforcement agencies. This is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.  Five years of work experience in the field of investigations, education internal investigations, accounting, auditing, law enforcement, inspections, or a related field.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a current/active Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

Prior attendance at the National Association of Inspectors General training for OIG Investigators.

Five years of experience in conducting complex and/or internal education investigations.

Understanding of COMAR and Education Article governing education law.  

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and possible travel throughout the State are required. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment

EXAMINATION PROCESS
